PRINCIPLES OF THE UN GLOBAL COMPACT

CaixaBank is a member of the United Nations Global Compact and holds the Presidency of the Spanish Network. In this report, which also functions as a progress report, those Principles of the Global Compact included in the text are indicated at the beginning of each section.

Principle 1
Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights, within their sphere of influence.

Principle 6
Businesses should support the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Principle 2
Businesses should make sure they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Principle 7
Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.

Principle 3
Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.

Principle 8
Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.

Principle 4
Businesses should uphold the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.

Principle 9
Businesses should encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Principle 5
Businesses should uphold the effective abolition of child labour.

Principle 10
Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

The Report is complemented by the GRI Content Index, included in section 3 of its Annex, which is also considered part of the progress report. The Memorandum of Understanding between the GRI and the United Nations Global Compact details the connections between the indicators and the 10 principles of the pact.
